intro:

You're listening to a mid life less ordinary, the weekly podcast giving you the lowdown on becoming a cool older dude. The good times are not a faded memory. It's time to start loving them again. And here are your hosts Wayne and Trev

Wayne:

Yeah, hello everyone and welcome to another midlife less ordinary. Whoa. got that right this time. And I'm always Wayne and Trev's here.

Trev:

I'm bringing the noise

Wayne:

you are a very noisy soul . So this one. We are because today we're doing an episode entitled, rambling, middle aged man. And this is basically a festival that we attend mostly most years, when it is on. We've missed it this last year, and we're hoping to

Trev:

Yeah, they did get a lot of the bands from last year to play this year. But it doesn't have to be on again. I don't think it's not a shame because some of our favorite bands are playing their own by especially is the first time that clutch have ever headlined a big festival, which would have been nice. For so long, you know? Exactly. Now it'd been about the 45th time I've seen hi

Wayne:

talking enough. But yeah, the ramblin man festival was one we attend. Now we're going to speak a bit about it as we go through the episode. We've been talking about festivals in general Trevor's got a lot of knowledge about festivals. He's got a few more time he has been to quite a few he's got the knowledge about it. Lots of things to be honest. But as you can put. I'm thinking the next Christmas already Trev. And yeah, that tee shirt Exactly. And so yeah, so we're going to talk about festivals, which ones are still great to go to when you're in your middle age. Which one's probably best.

Trev:

They're all great to go to because they're a nice break. What What more do you want out of life? Especially if the weather is the whole crux of it, though, isn't it? Yeah, I know people can have a laugh in the margin. So Gemma bear in it, but really, there's nothing like sitting there listening to music with a beer in your hand on a nice piece of grass. Is there. Just one of the trees was that? Yeah, exactly. Well, that one too many might miss a few bands.

Wayne:

I think we've already given that one away.

Trev:

But we've been there done that one

Wayne:

we'll come on to Ramblin man, but we'll talk a bit about gigs as well as we go through because we're revelling country apparently a quarter of all were adults in this country go to gigs and music festivals regularly. So they would like to roll around in the sunshine as well. All right, yeah.

Trev:

Yeah, would you festivals and gigs are really bizarre because I think people would rather go to a festival because that way they managed to see all the bands or they'd see they think they see all the bands they want to see which I think might be killing smaller gigs slightly possibly if they tour that I want Bob again to see because they're probably play Glastonbury they're probably play download. So yeah, now I don't think I know they the bands take the festival as part of the tour now. I don't know. Yes. It's like one appearance. He's actually like, you look a band tour itinerary and he's got a festival festival festival small gigs small big festival festival. I don't think that's such a great idea. I've really never used to be like that it was just like one festival appearance but in I'm talking wedding download which we talk about very quickly as well. was called the Monsters of Rock we only had one stage and six bands on a couple of DJs before they now you've got six stages and whatever Yeah, if they've changed quite a bit well that's it to us second biggest festival in the UK if I if I run through download is I run through the top 10 areas number one it is indeed Yeah, question number one What was your take a quick take on glastonbury Trev? Uh It's not for me. I think he's very corporate is very clean cleaning on night you got the BBC leaguers are there are they with their lion and Rex in their wellies? You know they Yeah, it's not me. Don't get me wrong. There's been some marvelous bands play. Back in the day got the poor, isn't it? Yeah, the Beastie Boys played it for him. He replied. Metallica played it. And I thought that was lame. To be honest. I know. I'll upset a lot of people. I just thought it was like the whole thing about having their fans behind them really like what's that about? Yeah, and, and again, you got bands I've made that said they'd never play it because of what it is. And I can understand that. Don't get me wrong. I shouldn't say because I've never been so people will say Oh, you don't know because you haven't been but it's you The look of it and that kind of stuff. The mods are

Wayne:

perfect. Yeah,

Trev:

no, you're wrong. I'm ever seeing my head on there. They were brilliant. But then Lemmy could fall and I think he was brilliant. Now for Oh boy, but I think that was heartbreaking watching Motorhead on there because they interviewed me. I think he's one of the last interviews he did, because I take them on a tour before he passed away. And I sat there and watched him and interviewed before they performed at Glastonbury. And it was like, there was an old PR they're just taking a person have an old people's home and dressed up in a Lemmy week and Mira sunglasses and put a mole on him. It broke my heart watching it, you know, we've all got to get hold and but it just broke my high. I remember Metallica doing a birthday thing for him at the Whisky a Go Go, I think Yeah. And basically they dressed up as the four lemons and played Motorhead tunes all night and they This is what it looked like but it looked like an old it looked like Ralph C. Nesbitt in like alemi gear it was just I just kind of but they were brilliant when they applied and I use in my head with a seven year kind of times and I've always loved them they're just they're not even heavy metal they're just rock and roll heavy rock and roll they're not a band on their own but yeah that's and you get such a diverse crowd from out here but you can see him yeah as well don't even get punk say you got people that necessarily don't go any gigs. I just got a motor

Wayne:

would they be appreciated at Glastonbury bought a crowd that team so

Trev:

Yeah, I know. I know they play because obviously Dave Grohl was a massive, big fan of Motorhead and really good friends with Liam you know, they played I think Hyde Park with the so fires. Which I thought was really great Dave Grohl to do that to have Motorhead on that bill? Yeah, and I think they went down because everybody knows the ace of spades doesn't matter if you have just bought the last Foo Fighters album or you've just like, bought a dance album. As soon as they play Ace of Spades people know it. And probably the best performance of Ace of Spades to me was when he was on the young ones. Yeah, it was just cold when I was a kid. I remember seeing it. And it wasn't a classic three lineup, but it was so good. It was live. So things should go together. He's Motorhead and the young ones TV show. Yeah. But yeah, getting back to gigs and stuff.

Wayne:

But we've just run through them because obviously download festivals number to that as 110,000 capacity. And you've been up in quite a few we've been we've been to 70 Yeah, big movie was really enjoyed it. Lucky. We had the good weather. Yeah, we did it. Yeah. And we just kept playing Lynyrd Skynyrd on your watch. What's the correct name for a tape recorder? these towers gonna call?

Trev:

sonic boom box.

Wayne:

boom box. Yeah, Rick was playing it over and over. No, everyone loved it. We just

Trev:

did. We just kept running out of batteries all the time. And we played a run out all the time and a bunch of country redneck.

Wayne:

I mean, I think old so many years ago, when I think about that was I think that was 2006. It wasn't that long ago. But he's so I think we

Unknown:

do. But yeah, exactly. That's,

Wayne:

you know that.

Trev:

That was one of the grossest things. I when I was dancing, that guy's sick when I would

Wayne:

actually like to show you if people want it, but maybe that gets funny in it. But yeah, second biggest 110,000 capacity then the next one. Everyone knows v festival. You should take

Trev:

the time. Yeah, I've been there quite a few times. I tend to the best bet I saw there was probably back. All right. Okay. Wait, like where it's at? Yeah, yeah. two turntables and a microphone. There was Heck, I've always liked him. But they he was really good. He pretty performed and he had like a horse's head when rubbing his head. It was just really Yeah, I saw the chili peppers. They I'd seen him quite a few times as well back in the day. in smaller venues when they weren't the supergroup, they were they are now and they were dreadful. Absolutely my opinion. People loved him. But I just thought they were dreadful. We're just not really lying. But

Wayne:

I didn't know you'd gone to the festival to be fair. So a few times usually associated with the kind of pop culture go into.

Trev:

Yeah, it wasn't no at one point. It was kind of a bit more diverse then especially some of our back play and I think the five increment was played that year, who was good. And then all of a sudden it's become a bit like steps for unionism.

Wayne:

steps again, a hard time on the show. First of all, the next one is the Reading and Leeds festival 85,000 capacity

Trev:

up in a reading times. Anyone have no reading yet? Oh, cool. Yeah, they were great. trying to think of interleaves a tumor. Now I know they sound festival and I just change it rotate the days only. So the people that apply ready in one day will probably lose the day before They just wrote it is the same lineup. Yeah. And I lost it in with live there and stuff. But yeah, that is a good festival, a bit more indie based, but they still have a few rock bands on there, which is good.

Wayne:

And the next one, Trevor, I think this is saying we probably would have gone to if we thought about it, but in a kind of diverse way. Yo Creamfields.

Trev:

Yes. Quite dance, isn't it? Yeah. And I mean, knew quite a bit about faceless. faceless, like a fixed twin. That kind of thing. province. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I don't know, I sort of skim the top of dance music Really? But I do like to do stew license.

Wayne:

I'd go to that. If it were would have gone to that.

Unknown:

Do you think do you think?

Wayne:

I don't know. I probably would regret it. But I but I'd go just would you?

Trev:

Would you run your eyes and not flowers in your head?

Wayne:

Well, you know, that's just a normal weekend for me, but I've seen that. Yeah. But I just I think it's because I haven't been I just feel like it would be nice to

Trev:

want to take off. Yeah, take off. Yes, exactly. It's

Wayne:

not gonna happen. Let's be honest. But 70,000 capacity there. Next one. I don't think any of us have been to I definitely haven't. I love Wight Festival. 58

Trev:

It seems like a real pain to get to know people or be it just seemed like a real pain. And I really don't there's a very good lineup don't Yeah, yeah, it is. There's a really great heavy rock festival in France called hell fest. And I'd love to go and I've got loads of guys that have been and that is brilliant. They cover every genre of hard rock but it's a it's a real pain to get to you especially our age you think? No, no, no, no, thank you very much.

Wayne:

Well, yeah, because you have to sort with Well, we'll talk about that in a minute but the accommodation side of things but next next one on the list 50,000 attendance This is still big numbers.

Unknown:

Yeah

Wayne:

Boomtown.

Trev:

I've heard of the I don't know if he I don't know if anybody if anybody don't know about it. Let us know if you've been to the microphone and Tell me Tell us about it. Yeah, we don't we don't bother researching on this show. We just we don't own our audiences the research. Yes, exactly. Yeah. Leave they leave a message wireless festival Trev. 49,000 capacity. Do you know anything about again, that's face? I think that's very sad. I've heard of it again. It is very similar to sort of reading isn't it wireless? Is it from what I understand? Yeah, I think Yeah. And to go stereo phonics, kind of. Yeah. And oh, my neck to be fair.

Wayne:

And then then at number nine, we've got the latitude festival with 35,000 capacity. I

Trev:

know a bit about that, because I'm friends of mine go every year and not gonna upset. No, no, no. One of the guys john does listen to us. He He told me the story that when he got there one year, he was saying how kind of nice he is because there was like a white rose supermarket truck in the carpark they were like an old burger van there was a different cheeses and stuff.

Wayne:

There's like middle class middle age.

Trev:

Yeah, they have some

Wayne:

sort of thing moved to a public middle class now. chimney sweeps and

Trev:

rock and roll easy. No, to be honest, standing there with your kind of cookie all your different achievements achievable. Yeah, if you choose your small group. That's a good name. That's a good name for something. Rock, your rock and roll smorgasbord. Could be a good good compilation.

Wayne:

Writing that one down now. character from Lord of the Rings but

Trev:

a smorgasbord.

Wayne:

We've got Bestival. I don't know that it's all 35. Okay,

Trev:

I know the know that name. And I've heard of it. I've probably flipped through the lineup. And so that's not for me.

Wayne:

Exactly. Yeah. So again, if anybody knows anything about it, let us know your message. Let us know. And so yeah, that's that's your top 10 we I know you've been attending your first festival Trev.

Trev:

It was done into Monsters of Rock are really ready to go the year. Metallica played master puppets and stuff. I've met my brother guy in 1984 and Van Halen play it for you and I was just when you refer to the I didn't go there and I was 13 that I really wanted to my mom was like now my brother wouldn't take me because I've been a bird and he just time. You didn't drink? Did you? No, no, no, not have rhiwbina. I really wanted to see Van Halen. My lucky enough. I did see Van Halen but back in the day, but not with Dave Lee Roth. And then I really wanted to go the year that Metallica play with Dr. And staff. That was a really big again my brother didn't go there. First year I went was the year that two people were tragically killed during Guns and Roses. That was mental absolutely made 140 there was 127,000 people there. I made headlines and they were brilliant. Yeah. Those are the days where I'd actually stay and watch a headline act because you had to come home by coach and the coach would finish at 12. And you get back to the coach and because it was so many coaches pointed out, you wouldn't lay there to apply to in the morning. So you'd get back at six. It was like a full 24 hour day. Sort of 12 hour day. Now basically what happened Pete was so excited to see Guns and Roses play that year. And I remember I was queuing up trying to get a Guns and Roses t shirt, and all the cross the other cover the cross kind of thing. It's sold out across schools, I really wanted one. And I got a really crappy one to be honest in the end, but I remember like them warning people, because there was just a surge you were standing like the merchant and they were just like, people running to the front. And you could see something was gonna go on. And I remember Axl Rose saying like, could you please push back because it was just mental. Then we heard later on the two people have been tragically tremble so yeah, so that's awful. That was the first one I went to that it was a real education and labor case playing their

Wayne:

bets 1516

Trev:

Yeah, I was it through my levels. Yes, six days. I remember a guy from our eye level. College came with us as well, my brother, my cousin. And I remember like somebody peed on the back of my brother's jeans during cases set which was really, really fun. No, neither one of the guys who listens to this poor guy. They would throw stuff at anybody and like he got an umbrella in the back of his neck. really painful. But they were just team bottles and just lobby Toby event did the comparing the DJ god bless you so another great DJ fella, but he actually won American football helmet when he was introducing the bands because they were so busy chucking rubbish at it. It was just meant to be a fight the balls were just mental. That's that that's my kind shall reside in memories

Unknown:

of it was

Trev:

also Yeah, there was also some really last smaller ones that Milton Keynes Metallica on the big day outs and stuff. They were really good. Because again, that was the start of law three or four stages. So I remember like seeing in tuned, monster magnet blacklight was OSI on a smaller stage. And it was really kind of Yeah, that was really good. Yeah, that was great. So

Wayne:

the monsters monsters a rock that became more spaced is that right

Unknown:

now that'd be a become download

Wayne:

for monsters rock get to what was so space sorry. For my confusion space was an American

Trev:

one. It did come over here a couple of times. I think. I think I saw I might be that might have been tired of planning pentair I'm sure I went to Wimbledon to see something like a similar thought thing called oz like similar to Las Vegas. But that was mainly an Americans one, which was huge, I think really, always made slipknot. Slipknot played it when they first came out with the orange boiler suits. And it was just that made them I was actually in the HMV for Slipknot signing session. I didn't know they were signing because I don't dislike and been overly keen. I've seen him quite a few times. But honestly, I was just spying. I was actually buying Alabama Thunder procedures was a great, heavy Southern rock band. And basically, there was just this huge surge of people like kids and stuff. And I was just standing next door where Slipknot came out in their gear on us. It was just carnage. It was just a kid Friday. So it was it was mental. It was really funny. Yeah.

Wayne:

I know. They used to attract attention.

Trev:

Yeah, but he was quite fresh, then. You know, I can understand why people would love him. You know? Yeah, of course you do. But I just don't understand them life because there's so many of them. They come across all the Keystone cops. All the time. That guy doing he's just banging a cup of dustbins. I don't really know what he's doing. Because when I saw that, yeah, when I saw them once. It was the probably the I've never seen you say a lot of people as you know when you've been to gigs and stuff. You see people in a right state done? Yeah, yes. really drunk.

Wayne:

Yeah, it's like the only time they've gone

Trev:

out all year. You know, I've never seen people so drunk that the slipknot gig I went to Hammersmith Odeon. It was just mental. It's a more younger generation, isn't it? So I applied with them. They were trying to cross you know, really good, like big zondra. And I actually saw some bloke have a crap outside of the boiler. Yeah, exactly. And then get up because he had the same testaments. He showed me. Nobody on them. I remember seeing it and I thought he just missed the bowl there. But he just crapped on the floor. It was all for me.

Wayne:

This is this is the thing about festivals and this is why now I'll say we're middle class kind of Waitrose purveyors. Now we refuse to stay in the tents Now don't worry when we go too fast

Trev:

because never get the smell of a chemical I love your nostrils for my festival. It just stays with you forever. And there's people on your team. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Poor people get there first. put their tent on the top of the hill near the water tap. And then people just leave the water tap on so there is just so slowing down on the hour or two near the toilets now that's good.

Wayne:

So we tend to now be in the middle club. What tends to happen now is we turn up we booked our hotel about a year in advance, don't we? And we turn. I think we're a couple or something because there's a single bed and then the room isn't there on the thing. I've done it. I think you do that on purpose to be honest. drivi just want to share

Trev:

just very quickly, before we carry on. I'll have to apologize if there's like a snoring or a buzzing sound or whatever you know, it's not me No, it's not it's actually my cat asleep next to me. It's not us actually falling asleep. live on air. It's just my cat is absolutely sound out he purrs like a jet engine. If you saw the size of it, you can see understand why it makes it on the couch. shows you the size is more like a lion. Like if we put a picture of him on the website. Definitely. Yeah, I do know the snoring not. Yes.

Wayne:

No, no just said I know, you've sort of diverted away from because I'll just send it. I leave all the booking arrangements to your good self. And when we turn we turn up at hotels now instead of obviously staying in tents. And when we turn that as a single bed

Trev:

and breakfast.

Wayne:

We sleep in the same face. Hair anymore. I don't 20 years ago,

Trev:

what I love about what I love is normally you get up first or you wake up first. And I hate it. Oh, that typical middle aged lay in there. And I just look at you and you're just leaning forward. Honestly, that is the

Wayne:

most the best way to wake up to

Trev:

when you're drinking partly in body or in something terrible because for some reason I don't know why but mean you hardly ever eat festivals now who don't want to sing you can do in a minute, we're getting huge, I can't be bothered now can't be bothered. By the time we think about it. They've either sharp or they've run out of everything. We're rolling around in the grass. As we said yesterday, yeah, that leads to that feeling of leaning forward in a bed sharing it with another nine year old man.

Wayne:

And I'm so old now I don't care. You know, as I say, You know my I don't know my dignity is gone a long time ago. I'm not I think all

Unknown:

you do is not brush your teeth. Do you do your hair in the road or brush your teeth. It's just sort of like

Wayne:

a bomb in it and you're not brushing it I just want to get home and have a shower and just get like get some sleep and proper sleep because by the time we get out or back to the hotel, it's not three o'clock. And I mean it's better than standing the tent. I mean, I would still do it if there was a two days at a festival and it's so interesting.

Trev:

Yeah, is we leave the site lions and try get a taxi. Don't get back to

Wayne:

you try that. And

Trev:

we'll what yeah, we always end up sharing it with some poor couple walk. They must think what have we done here? should just pay for on our own. These two idiots are rolling in the back talking absolute nonsense. Yeah, whoever if anybody's listening, that we've ever done that, too. We do apologize because it must be it must have just I think they would have been offended by it. Or you must just ignore them. I don't think we even get like that when we drove to be fair, but you know, I can see what you mean. I know what you mean. Yeah, you get in a taxi show. And then where's in the back talking like we were doing now? Did I say a different language? But yeah, so one of the biggest, biggest things for me festival wise the biggest letdown is how especially at the kind of more middle aged ones like rambley men and black deer. And if they're listening, please take note is how bad the merchandise is. Oh, go grab it. There's no thought gone into it or anything. It's just all I seem to think of is middle age. Rock fans over want something really offensive on the back? Really? Do you really want to be like that at 4546 and a half swearing on the back? ZZ Top. We're really guilty of that when I saw them a couple of years back. And I was like, what why do you have to? Or it's like a really generic design on the front. Like a kind of guitar with wings on a look a bit kind of biker Sons of Anarchy. Yeah, and you're like, now they just they just need a bit more thought going into a little bit more thought on the design make it a bit more because you like the merchandise Trev and who you like to remind you the shirts Yeah, I still wear that kind of stuff. Not not all the time because I remember when I was young. I used to think I don't know what I'm gonna wear when I get over 30 because I just went ban seizures all the time. I still wear some of the older ones and like, you know, I still wear a D o t shirt or a Motorhead one. But yeah, honestly that you've been, you've said that we just we always do the same thing. We walk up to the merch, look at it and go. That's Robert.

Wayne:

Yeah, yeah, Bradley man's a great fit. If you're our age, you know, so yeah, between 40 and

Trev:

100, HDMI and VGA is designed for people of our age. I think there are younger people there. Yeah. But then how many younger people know who focus on this, you're really into it or like Magnum. Exactly.

Wayne:

You're much more reliant on somewhere like download, you can still go to download, but you've got to see what you can do.

Trev:

If you don't want to step over 16 year old

Wayne:

man supposed to be

Trev:

rambley man is the place to be black deer was good. Wasn't it? Brilliant. I really enjoyed it. It was kind of country country. But then obviously, we were quite spoiled because they had the sort of stoner rock stage there as well. Good. And I'd ever figure down a rock band.

Unknown:

I was definitely

Wayne:

there because I like a lot of that. Don't a lot of sort of stoners. Yeah. And that that was really good as well that we stayed there most of the night, didn't we? Yeah, we might as well have stayed there. To be honest. I think we left about four o'clock in the morning or something. But I think we did. Yeah, we did. But on that note Trev, I think I just want to while I still got the chance to until you spin it round. I think I'd like to do a testing Trev. Yeah, go for?

Trev:

Yes. So sending out the PA was a bit muddled there.

Wayne:

Did you have technical issues? Again?

Trev:

Yeah, exactly. You don't you don't need to hire him again.

Wayne:

I'm not it's not my forte. And so I'm gonna ask you four questions on download. I know that you not necessarily been there on these occasions. But I'll give you multiple choice. Just a bit of fun, inform some of the people some of the things that have gone on, so yeah, number one, who was missing that downloaded 2004. Was it Dave Lombardo, Danny filth. Joey jordison or Lars Ulrich?

Trev:

nazarick because Jerry Jordans and played with Metallica.

Wayne:

And you are? Well done. Lars Ulrich from Metallica was rushed into hospital, and drummers Dave Lombardo and Joey jordison. Among others stepped in to tell us that

Trev:

actually, I think jerry jones actually won the slipknot maker, as well. I played with Metallica in

Wayne:

extra value here. Yeah. Number two trif. Who did Chino Marino join on stage at download in 2010? Was it Rage Against the Machine? Stone Temple Pilots stone set? I don't expect you to get a stone sour of 30 Seconds to Mars.

Trev:

It's either just called me Rage Against the Machine. 30 Seconds to Mars in it.

Wayne:

Yeah. And you can't give it to me. You cannot. The Act is bad, isn't it? Yeah. recommend for a letter. Oh, yeah. Jared letter letter Fight Club.

Unknown:

And the most entertaining thing with him was when he got beaten up in Fight Club, his angel.

Wayne:

Next question, who's spoken word woke up download festival goers in 2005. Was it Henry Rollins, Chris Rock, Bill Bailey, or Russell Howard? Who's spoken word woke up download in 2005.

Trev:

Ron Rollins does folk and works. I've watched a lot of them and I've really liked him.

Wayne:

What do we say? your gut? Like?

Unknown:

Yeah, yeah. But then bill Bailey.

Wayne:

He went dancing on it. Did

Trev:

he? I thought he was split. You don't look at it. You know? Everyone is so good word.

Wayne:

It's right. It's right.

Trev:

Because bill Bailey is more of a comedian exactly say comedy act or anything. So

Wayne:

Roland. Yeah. Rollins. Rollins did a comedy set on the Napster stage in 2005.

Trev:

Yeah, he's great. Definitely YouTube your mind one is very

Wayne:

good at adding value again true. And number four, and the last but not least, which of these film stars were at download? 2006 and we were there but not all we saw was it a jack black be Brad Pitt see Will Smith or D Tom Hanks? jack black Brad Pitt Will Smith and Tom Hanks. I cannot confirm we didn't see him when we were there.

Unknown:

Got instinct will say Will Smith

Wayne:

is that you were going with

Unknown:

yeah he knew that yeah

Wayne:

remember remember you bumped into him in the chemical toilet didn't you?

Unknown:

Did Yeah. man bought me a drink well

Wayne:

i think it was more of a George Michael situation

Trev:

yeah yes stay fresh as I said

Wayne:

with Smith was at the stage so I did to download 2006 watching his wife's band wicked wisdom

Trev:

that's it and they were terrible. Did you see him? That yeah we I think we did I probably did Bernie Smith when they were just terrible. Yeah. I think what is that is Lincoln Park.

Wayne:

Oh, thanks for that I really enjoyed that made my way to the front to the subject, right going back to the festivals for now. So yeah, the ramblin man great if you like your rock music is sort of 70s progressive rock and everything else that that's one of the different stages in our in Maidstone. Isn't it? mote Park and yeah, hopefully it will be on in 2021 pretty well

Trev:

set up as well, isn't it? Yeah,

Wayne:

it's not. It's not crowded either. Is it? You

Trev:

know, you can tell how much they sort of trust older people because not to drop their security. But that kind of lacks when they let you in on

Wayne:

there's gonna be a load of people with swag bags on this year.

Trev:

Because I remember one year ago in a wedding in one of my mates, campers there was all six of us and they virtually ripped it apart. Yeah, they were so dead. I

Wayne:

don't do anything.

Trev:

Yeah, ramblin man was just like, oh, Lacey Nicole. is brilliant. We loved it.

Wayne:

And the black deer festival similar kind of thing that he told bit more security when it but

Trev:

yeah, it's certainly wrong. All festivals are cold. But if you want ones that are more suited to our age group, then those two and possibly latitude I would have thought yes a lot more. So you'd you know go to download, enjoy yourself, take your kids at that generation thing. Wonderful. But be prepared. It's messy. You know, where you don't get these kind of middle aged like selling shops and they're not fun because they really are but that's my advice I if we're gonna if we're going to put them in the box of call if so was our call today I suppose if we're going to say that

Wayne:

the weather The weather is very important and you can't predict nice country it To be honest, if it was really bad. I probably would say to which we've done before we'd probably turn up and not go because we wouldn't want to just go to the pub or something you know just to do some

Trev:

I know it sounds really really lame and stuff but do you really want just because you paid that money for that?

Wayne:

That's good, isn't it because it's all indoors.

Trev:

Desert fest is great venues. different venues. Walk around you've got your go home. Yeah, brilliant. Yeah, I never had some really great bands there I've enjoyed that. look that up yeah, definitely desert fest is cool. Yeah, that's if you're into heavier stuff. Yeah, I don't think you could go from listing to light skinned heard that sounds bizarre but then she didn't Skinner that's that's the other thing very quickly, is how annoying it is when a band like Linda Skinner last night was quoted back in the day say this is the last tour this is the last time you'll see us and then they had on a festival. Yeah, or they go to like that's like don't do that. Bains be honest I know it's money making these one big more one big more coppers in the old funds before you retire but don't do that because it just annoys fans. I just think he's a sellout. Black Sabbath took note should take note of that because they're the worst ones for it and also for it's true. Anyway that's that's

Wayne:

that I've read out so i think i think we've we've kind of summarized already but let's officially go for that with music. Oops, that's not the right one. technical issues. Oh dear. That's the producer hedge road crew

Unknown:

can't be doing anything because

Wayne:

I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I just can't i can't multitask. It's just not good enough. I know. But anyway, we're going to the summary forget about that. We can we can add it there. Now. We will I won't I won't. So to summarize, we've already summarized To be fair, we haven't actually included geeks because it's such a vast subject we I think we

Trev:

may be separate. We do a second one about music just want to talk gigs we do another one we're doing we'll do what else do we do want?

Wayne:

Let us know what you want us to talk about as ever. We're happy to talk about anything but I took from my point of view. We have festivals Yeah, they're all called you have a good day. We treat them more like geeks now to be fair, because we tend to try and come home or or we stay somewhere don't mean a hotel. As you said like the latitude with Waitrose would suit us

Trev:

Yeah, I think I've mentioned it before. Don't fast see every band you want to see because you're just run around, trying to enable take the enjoyment out of it. Yeah, see the bands that you really want to see but don't fuss it. Because people walk around with timetables rushing about like they're on Piccadilly Circus, I don't think you're going to enjoy all that relax.

Wayne:

pick the ones you really need to see and space and

Trev:

get value for money if you want, you know, see all the bands but you're just going to stress yourself out and get on with the mistakes and loads of bands clash. I remember again, it was download one year and clutching ZZ Top one at the same time is like like I was cursed. Who do you see it and then to

Wayne:

it in the end I've seen so many times I saw ZZ Top and called the end of clutch but yeah, that's it. That's my advice on that. Yeah. Anyway, I mean, some festivals Trev just quickly some festivals like the country to country which we were booked into go to in 2000 Yeah, that's classed as a festival but it's actually you go home at the end of the day and go

Trev:

up to one or that was Slayer, the merovingian sleep plague and that was a crystal Crystal Palace. Is that where the dark seas? Yeah, because I think days isn't it on a hill. That was brilliant. That was great. The weather obviously didn't affect it.

Wayne:

So there was the famous festival Well, that was a festival with Alexandra and that was a free day festival was near of some kind

Trev:

that was Yeah, there was other other battles so

Wayne:

it's not always the same thing is not always tense in the Medina for three days. Drinking cider is it they do vary in own there exactly is enough out there to suit middle aged people. So yeah, exactly. Yeah, definitely. An Essay maybe on a bucket list. We'll get in going to one in the on the continent software Trev. For doing a cruise or something. I want to do the cruise.

Trev:

Cruise you don't know. Yeah, I went to Germany to a festival. The Nuremberg welcome ring.

Wayne:

That was really good. Yeah, wicked. Yeah. Very good. So I'm sure musics always gonna be a topic we bring up more. As always, please leave us a message anything.
