Wayne, by day works as a sales manager in the ceramic tile industry which he has spent 30 odd years inhabiting and hasn't got a clue how he got there. Being a born and bred Essex boy and being named Wayne has given others a reason to judge him prematurely during his lifetime and he would be the first to admit that he sometimes lived up to that reputation.
Coming up with the concept for "A Midlife Less Ordinary" was a side effect of Wayne being furloughed like so many others during the 2020 worldwide pandemic. Missing his kindred spirit chats with lifelong friend and colleague Trev, he decided that he would invite his friend to join him on a journey where they could chat to others about all the things that keep Wayne & Trev awake at night.
Wayne has never been afraid to try out new experiences and go out of his comfort zone in the hope of expanding his universe and is known for his throwing of himself totally into everything he does and never goes half measure.
Wayne loves motorbikes and has a penchant for Ducati's, now only really occupying a fair weather riding philosophy as he doesn't want to waste his midlife cleaning his motorbike. Also enjoys nothing more than missing an entire music festivals line-up due to enjoying one or two too many beverages and being a little too chilled on a grass oasis with his cohort Trev.
Well, well, well... Now how did I end up here? Suppose I'd better explain.
My co-host and I have been friends for nearly 40 years, since we went to school together. At school, I was that heavy metal / Star Wars kid, longish hair, patches on my school bag, and band logos pencilled all over my text book covers.
Video games and arcade machines were a big thing in the 80's, Wayne and I kinda bonded with frequent trips to Southend-on-Sea's amusement arcades, playing games like Defender, Galaxian and Paperboy. Anyone remember those classics?
After leaving school, music was my biggest influence, and I chased a brief rock vocalist dream - that worked out well \m/
At this moment in time, I'm a tile showroom manager at a local builders merchant. In fact, this is where Wayne and I got reacquainted. We were like those men 'behaving badly characters'.
Now training and golf have crept into my midlife, as well as the life-long love of music, films and comics.
Lockdown inspired the idea of this Podcast for these two male midlifers. So hopefully you'll enjoy the ramblings and advice from me 'the Dude' Deeley. If you are wondering what the Dude is about, it's a Big Lebowski thing, so abide!
